Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services

Fracture, Burn & Open Wound Rehabilitation

   Our center is equipped wit a hydrotherapy unit for burns, open wounds management and fracture therapy to ensure the earliest return to function of individuals who have suffered physical trauma.

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

   Dr. Homer Tiangco, FPARM Associate Professor AUFMC, School of Medicine is the Head of the department, completed his residency at the Philippine General Hospital and has a regular column, “World of Hurt” in Men’s Health Magazine.

Dr. Anthony So, FPARM Completed his training at UST, and served as dean of the college of Physical Therapy of AUFMC.

Dra. Rowina Lapid is the pioneer of PM&R AUFMC. She has been active in both adult and pediatric rehabilitation of patients.

Pain Management

   This service is available to patients who experience pain, decreased strength, mobility or decreased functional ability secondary to injury, surgery or degenerative condition. Techniques include exercise, modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, traction, heat, ice and massage. Physical therapy addresses the needs of all aspects of the body, including the spine, shoulders, knees, hips and ankles.

Pediatric Therapy

   Through occupational and physical therapies, this program addresses the special needs of children of all ages. Developmental screening evaluation, wheelchair/adaptive seating therapy also are available.

   The therapy staff specializes in, but is not limited to: developmental delays/disabilities, cerebral palsy, speech/language disorders, oral motor/feeding problems, sensory integration/motor impairments, orthopedic disabilities, head trauma, spina bifida, fine motor/handwriting problems, autism/PPD, torticollis and metabolic disorders.

Sports Medicine

   AUF Sports Center offers rehabilitation to athletes injured while performing a sport or to those whose injury prevents them from returning to a sport. Specialized therapy can help rehabilitate the athlete to perform action specific to his/her sport (e.g. jump, pivot, ect.). Athletic trainers are assigned to area schools to treat athletes injured at school sporting events as well as provide education to prevent injuries.

Stroke Clinic

   This interdisciplinary program between occupational and physical therapy strives to improve the function and communication skills of individuals who have suffered a brain injury. Once the acute course of therapy has ended, group programs such as “Speaking Out” and “Moving On” are offered as additional support for recovery.

Spasticity and Gait Clinic

   Dr. Homer Tiangco is trained to do specific nerve block to control spasticity due to stroke or cerebral palsy. Neck pain and torticollis from neck pain can be managed well with physical therapy and patient education. Gait retraining for neurologic disorders of adult and pediatric patients and amputees which includes pre and post prosthetic training.
